The Perfect Pout at Any Age.

As we age, the colour in our lips fade, which leads to lack of definition around the lips. Also, some lipsticks can tend to ‘bleed’ or seep into the fine lines around the mouth.

Here are some suggestions for achieving the perfect pout at any age:

Care of your lips:

  • Keep your lips in top condition by exfoliating gently once a week. Try using with a mix of 1 tablespoon of olive oil and castor sugar (this is just a personal recommendation which I have found works).
  • Wet your lips and gently rub this mixture on with your hand to gently remove any old skin. Rinse with warm water.
  • Moisturise your lips day and night.

Lipstick Application:

  • Use a waterproof lip liner to line your lips to give back that definition.
  • Start with the top lip by drawing the cupid’s bow, then take a line from the outer corners of your lips to the bow.
  • If you do it the other way, by drawing down to the outer corners, you are liable to be to heavy handed and you will look like you are frowning.
  • Next draw a horizontal line across the bottom lip and again join up the sides by starting at the outer corners.
  • This will give you a more symmetrical shaped lips even if they are not.
  • I usually fill them in completely with the liner to help the lipstick stay on longer and when your lipstick fades you won’t have that harsh line.
  • Avoid completely matte lipsticks as they can often be too drying and tend to emphasise any fine lines.
  • Ideally, choose a semi-matte lipstick or lip stain.
  • Using a lip brush, apply a slightly darker shade to the outer edge of your lips and finish with a lighter gloss in the centre, to create the illusion of bigger lips.
  • Finish off by applying your foundation around the edges of your lips with a small brush for the ultimate crisp line which makes your lips ultra defined!!
  • Re-apply after eating to have the perfect pout all day long.
